London, UK 1999-Millennium

The Mind Zone in the Millennium Dome was one of the 12 “zones” that made up the centrepiece of Britain's year 2000 celebrations. It was designed by Zaha Hadid, the London based radical architect.
RS were commissioned to create a signage system that conveyed the same journey through the mind represented by The Zone.
We created a thread of meanings using words and images that explored the associated exhibits and connected these very disparate elements.
Using both vertical and horizontal formats, the visitor was given directional guidance and a conceptual link to both aid and unsettle the mind.
Lightboxes were chosen for their visual impact as well as helping to illuminate the space.

Also created was a five minute typographic/graphic animation which had a narative linked to the theme and content of the Mind Zone, the sound used in the animation was also created by Research Studios. Click on the QuickTime icon above to view the animation.
